adaptor plugs

Can an adaptor plug stop functioning? I cannot use my scanner, speakers or
DSL modem because the adaptors are not working. I was trying to see if the
adaptors would work in different equipment (i.e., the one for the speakers
in the modem), and now the equipment I previously mentioned won't work. All
my plugs and adaptor plugs are plugged into power surges.

Thanks for your help!

What exactly are you writing about???

THE AC ADAPTOR PLUGS. YOU KNOW, THE CUBE-SHAPED PLUGS. IF YOU STILL
DON'T UNDERSTAND, THEN I SHOULD JUST BUY NEW ONES.

Well, if you went around -- radomly plugging different wall adapters
(aka Wall Warts) into "... different equipment...", then there is a
Very Good Chance you'll need to buy new, "...different equipment...", too.

"Different wall adapters" have:
* different output -- AC vs DC
* different voltage -- 3V, 4.5V, 6V, 7.5V, 8.4V, 9V, 12V, u.s.w.
* different current capacity -- 10's of mA up to an Ampere, or so.

adapter plugs? are you referring to the adapters to plug a 3 prong plug
into a 2 prong receptacle? If so, then you should NOT be using them
with your computer equipment. You should plug them into the proper
grounded receptacle.

ahhhhhh... the actual transformer is what you are referring to... in
this case, you might have killed your equipment by plugging the wrong
one into it since you stated that you tried it in different equipment.
those adapters usually are all different output voltages, and yo must
use the correct one for the equipment. plugging in the wrong one could
send too much voltage to the equipment and kill it.

Is this a wind-up? :)
They probably all provide different polarities and voltages. Put the
right one for each piece of equipment where it belongs. If you're
lucky, you won't have damaged anything. Don't do anything so stupid
again !
