8 Bit DAC

Hi Folks,

I need an 8 bit DAC that runs freely (no control lines required...just input
parallel data and convert) and can output a 0 to 12V level. Presently the
AD7224 I am considering outputs a 0 to 10V out. I guess I would need a
voltage amplifier but that requires some more components (which leads to
more failure possibilities) and I need to keep the area on the PCB to a
minimum.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Jay

R2-R ladder network and an op-amp?

That's three times he's had the same answer to the same question from three
different people. Perhaps he's waiting for a private email. In which case he'll
be lucky.

Did not know that. Oh well, it's always my policy to help if I can. I
never email responses, however. Cheers.

Wise policy.

Got a kick out of this: Most of the advice given on Usenet is wrong.

Good reference ... thanks!

There's further irony in this. First, for a couple of decades the
netiquette guidelines (later RFC1855) cautioned people not to post, when
email would do the job. (Limited interest, etc.) Just as the guidelines
cautioned people to _include_ some of the posting you are responding to
(because of the Time Warp, which is no longer a problem, or even part of the
memory of newbies), yet NOW they take the advice to heart, and unnecessarily
include 100's of lines of original.

Also, thought the Web page cited above does make the point, advice on
limitations of Usenet information predates Web pages. Here is a pure-Usenet
example that I happen to know about:

OK, I never took a DSP course. At the end of the article, he essentially
says, "All of these answers are wrong", but then gives no indication what
the right answer might be.

Does anybody really know?

Thanks,

Sorry about that. I posted three articles on this in 1991 and the third
one, 6-June, which addressed that question, does not show up in the same
thread. Here it is:

Sorry for that - I had ass-u-me-d that you had cited somebody else.

Thanks!
