50Hz PAL equivalent of 60Hz Monochrome RS170 NTSC signal

Hi
I am looking for the equivalent in PAL for a device I am making so it can
display black and white images on PAL screens. The RS170 standard is one
line every 63.625 uS with 3 voltage levels (black, white, sync). There are
262 lines every 1/60 of a second, interlaced.

What is the equivalent PAL standard? I can't find information on the
voltages for black/white/sync (for RS170 they are 0V 0.3V and 1V), nor the
sync periods.

Anyone know the RS number for monochrome 50Hz signal that would work on
Australian TV's?

If my TV supports 60Hz is it likely that it will support RS170 anyway? Or
will it be expecting different voltage levels?

Thanks for any help!

** 50 Hz PAL has one line every 64 uS (15,625 lines per second ) and 312
lines per 1/50 second - interlaced.

I think in the back of the Dick Smith catalogue has it or try google

have a look here, I am sure there are better ones around

Sounds like you are asking for the CCIR monochrome TV standard.

2:1 interlaced / 625 lines / 50 fields per second / 25 frames per second
Scanning frequency: 15.625 kHz (H), 50Hz (V)
Signal standard: CCIR Monochrome
PAL is an *extension* of this standard to provide a compatible colour signal
that will display on a monochrome tv and vice versa.

Do you know where to get more specific information? I need to know how to
vertical sync and pauses that are required after the sync's etc. I can't
find anywhere that goes into such detail.

CCIR Recommendation 472-1 is the source document,
however it's pretty much detailed in this:

http://www.dstan.mod.uk/data/00/018/06000200.pdf

Ministry of Defence
Defence Standard
00-18 (PART 6)/Issue 2 2 FEBRUARY 1990
AVIONIC DATA TRANSMISSION
INTERFACE SYSTEMS
PART 6: ANALOGUE VIDEO STANDARD
FOR AIRCRAFT SYSTEM
APPLICATIONS

Standard 'B' in the document is the 625/50hz variant you want I think.
There is a table giving just about everything you want.
