Hello All,
Need a 12V 4.5A power supply to replace a dead converter for a
mini-projector unit. Are there any suggestions?

Currently I only see those switchmode modules jaycar sells... was hoping
there was a 'plugpack' (laptop converter style) unit that can handle 4.5A...

Thanks in Advance.

Its a Projector unit. The previous power supply brick went kapoop.

Not the metal cased switchmode modules ...

[Laptop units are generally 15V+ too...]

** The MP- 3240 ( 12 volts DC and 4 amps) does not look metal cased.

** The MP-3460 is a universal laptop replacement - the case looks plastic
in the pic.

Try Amtex:

They have units which may suit (ZVC60NT-12E).

Just got the latest Farnell blurbs and they have several new lines which
should suffice as well.

The unit requires 4.5A really. I've used a 3.9A supply and the picture
appears fuzzy. Works great with 4.4A loading on my workbench supply. Of
course that isn't going to be a permanent solution...

Yup saw that. Thats the 15+V one I was referring to.

Mmm Ken's suggestion looks nice.

Thanks Ken. Looks perfect.

I'd give them a call tomorrow. Will check out the Farnell/RS catalogues too
while I'm at it.

Thanks again.

Mmm Ken's suggestion looks nice.

** At $180 each it would need to be nice.

BTW You have still not revealed what the fuck a "mini projector" is.

Have you tried the Oatley electronics site?, they often have high
current surplus supplies available.
Rockby Electronics too maybe...

I figure if someone is powering what's probably an expensive item of
equipment they may not shirk at a few bucks for a Real McCoy. Doesn't work
in the real world, I know, but hey! It's nearly Christmas, who knows? :)

** A "projector" might be a lamp and a lens.

The jerk has finally told us he has a Toshiba LZ-P2 ***VIDEO
PROJECTOR*** that appears to be sold only in Asia - I found a pic on a
Korean site.
