Problem child is a 3M MP8650 that is used for video projection.
Intermittent prob is this: When it hasn't been used for a while (random
timeframe), switch it on and everything works fine. Switch it off and then
back on and the problems start.
The screen will have numerous horizontal lines (sometimes red, sometimes
green, sometimes blue) clearly in focus. At the same time the actual video
image appears to have stretched vertically to the point where you would
only know there is actual video signal coming through due to horizontal
movement on the screen. This happens no matter what input is selected eg.
video, laptop. Also affects on-board commands, focus boxes etc.
Switch the unit off, leave it sit for short while, turn it back on: less
amount of horizontal lines but picture still u/s.
Leave it off (with cord unplugged) again and, peculiarly, take it for a
bumpy drive (discovered when we moved house!): it powers up, starts off
haywire and within 60 seconds works fine.
Has anyone come across this before? If it happened all the time I would
accept that the unit is u/s and condemn it but as it's intermittent... I'm
hopeful of recovery!
Machine looks very dusty internally (came to me second hand). There looks
to be a multitude of lenses and mirrors inside that I would like to clean
if I knew I could accurately line everything up again.
Hope problem description is accurate enough. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
