The truck has unbelievable performance, but then again it\'s an $80k EV.

What does it weigh?

Why does it have a gear selector? I guess a truck needs gears.

How long will it take to recharge? To burn?

It\'s only available to fleets, for political buyers. Individuals
probably won\'t want it.

1 to 20 hours. Depends.

I\'ll take it for the right price.

450 miles of range
10,000 lb towing capacity

Does this occur SIMULTANEOUSLY? I very seriously DOUBT IT! So what IS the towing range at 10,000 lb? Maybe 50 miles - on LEVEL GROUND!

The tell you in the article. Did you not read it?

> Why does it have a gear selector? I guess a truck needs gears.

Doesn\'t *your* car have a gear selector? If not, how do you select gears, like reverse?

https://gmauthority.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/2024-Chevrolet-Silverado-EV-RST-Interior-004-gear-selector.jpg

> How long will it take to recharge?

That\'s an ICE owner question. It\'s like asking, \"how much gas does it take to fill the tank on an ICE?\" That depends on how much you\'ve used. 99% of the time, charging happens at home. Plug in every night and have a freshly topped off tank in the morning. The vehicle can charge from 0% to 100% overnight.

> To burn?

This shows the ignorance and prejudice of Larkin.

It\'s only available to fleets, for political buyers. Individuals
probably won\'t want it.

There are none so blind as those who refuse to see.

\"Consumer deliveries of the Silverado should begin by the end of the year.\"

The reviewer says some odd things, like, \"you cannot freewheel coast with the Silverado EV unless you hold your foot positioned perfectly on the go-pedal between accelerating and regen\". This is a remark by someone who does not have an electric car and doesn\'t understand that you don\'t think in terms of \"freewheel coasting\" when you drive. You just drive. Control your speed with the speed controller pedal or whatever you wish to call it, other than the gas pedal. This reminds me of the old model T with a planetary gear set with multiple pedals to shift gears. Once regenerative braking is experienced, it\'s hard to go back and think, \"yeah, two pedal is the way to go!\"

The reviewer seems to have no understanding of electricity with statements like, \"a maximum charging rate of 800 volts\", and confusing serial and parallel arrangements of two batteries sections.

The reality is the vehicle\'s charging rate is limited by the current, so when halves of the battery are arranged serially, it can charge at 800 volts and therefor faster. It talks about using 350 kW chargers to add 100 miles in 10 minutes. That\'s about the same as a model 3 or Y.

Interesting vehicle. I think it shows GM is trying hard to come up to speed with BEVs.

Yes, how long is a piece of string? With the 80 amp, level 2 charger, which is not available yet, it will charge in 10 hours. A fact that people who don\'t own BEVs, ask first, in spite of the fact that it\'s really not very important. I would think you are a person who completely understands that, given the fact that you are happy waiting hours for a tow truck to show up to drag your car to the next charger.

$80000 / 200 = $400 / KWhr is a bit high. I can get new cells for around $150.
So, the right price is around $30K.

I would guess around 200 miles. Someone towed a Tesla with a Rivian for a test, with half range.

Right. This truck is roughly 2,000 lbs heavier than my F-250 Super Duty pickup. This directly subtracts from its towing capacity and the GCVW rating.

Of course it can recharge the batteries when it is going down the other side of the mythical hill. To be competitive with that , an internal combustion engine truck would have to recover CO2 from it\'s exhaust, turn it back into gasoline and put that back into the tank.

John Larkin gets his opinions from climate change denial propaganda put out by the people who dig up gasoline and want to sell more of it, so they do like to ignore regenerative braking and it\'s implications. Flyguy simply hasn\'t got a clue.

Hey Bozo, exactly HOW are those batteries being charged? The fact is that at night they are being charged by COAL-FIRED PLANTS! EVs are actually WORSE for the environment than hybrids. But pea-sized brains such as yours can\'t comprehend basic facts.

The fact that Flyguy doesn\'t seem to have heard of it doesn\'t make it any kind of pyschotic fantasy, even of Flyguy imagines that it does.

> Hey Bill, TRY to actually present FACTS - your mud throwing isn\'t CUTTING IT!

That Flyguy hasn\'t recognised a well known fact as factual or well known isn\'t in the least surprising. He imagines that his own ignorance is a justification for mud-slinging, but that\'s how pyschopathic lunatics act.

8000 pounds
Why does it have a gear selector? I guess a truck needs gears.
Forward and Backward
How long will it take to recharge? To burn?
1 to 20 hours. Depends.
It\'s only available to fleets, for political buyers. Individuals
probably won\'t want it.

It has to lug its own batteries up a hill too.

The point about electric vehicles is that they can be recharged from renewable sources as these come on line. Electricity generation systems around the world are phasing out coal-fired plants. They haven\'t got rid of all of them yet, but the electricity they produce is more expensive than the stuff you buy from renewable sources means that the coal fired plants are going to keep on being phased out. The fact that renewable generation is intermittent means that we need more grid storage than we have got, but we are getting it.

These are facts that don\'t seem to register in your largely afunctional brain. Having a fat head doesn\'t help if it isn\'t working.

That truck won\'t charge itself on the downside of a hill if it never
makes it to the top.

Fleet sales only is interesting.

That would be a pretty pathetic truck. No amount of chrome trim would persuade even a US consumer to buy it.

This is the same industry that reacted to the fact that Americans were buying compact Eurpoean cars by eventually introducing their own compact range, then made them bigger every year. They seem to think that Americans are all as stupid as Flyguy.

But losing money to get market share so you can produce in high enough volume to get real economies of scale is what modern manufacturing is all about.. Flyguy and John Larkin are still stuck in the dark ages - or the dim age in these particular cases.
