20" Screen long warmup

I have a +/- 6 year old 20" Dell D2026T CRT monitor with a trinitron tube.
After a few years all trinitrons seem to suffer from a fairly slow warm up
image in which it takes a minute or so for the image to slowly fade in. This
screen seems to be on its way out because after being on for 5 minutes it
still sometimes does not display an image (even though it definately did
degauss and the little green light comes on). If I turn it on/off a few
times slowly, usually by the 5th time after 10 or so seconds an image
appears and slowly begins to fade in. If I turn it off after it has been on
for a few minutes and had a picture, then turn it back on within a minute or
so, the picture comes back after a second or two.

The switch itself is a hard (not a soft/standby type switch). All the other
keys are 'soft' for the onscreen menu/brightness/contrast control.
Brightness is set at 90% and contrast at 100%. When it is black and I push a
menu key, it does not display either. It probably is not worth taking it to
get fixed, its not really worth getting another CRT, and I really don't feel
like laying out the cash for a 17" LCD... So I'd like to try and solve this
if possible.. any quick band-aid solutions I could maybe try (I really can't
go back to 15" anything after using this monster!)?

Thanks in advance

If it is not a weak capacitor on the filament voltage line off the smps or a
poor solder connection to the filament to the crt, odds are the crt is
simply worn out due to age.
