20" Prima tv model:XT-2079BM,year:June 2002,UL:32KJ.No remote control
functions,no sound and picture has no sync if you change channels from
rabbit ears the tv will not lock in to the channels which have
stations but if you press menu button the tv will lock into that
station and then go into menu.
The IR remote receiver has 5v vcc and the 5v signal changes as the
remote control buttons are pressed and the voltages are present at the
micro.The basic DC voltages are all present at the tuner and the
micro.Prima tv's were sold by Future Shop in Canada and for a picture:

This tv uses this parts:

Flyback # 25-N1509 (location: T439)
Yoke # QPC-E5403
V504=2SC4429
N401=LA7830
N101=LA78814K (Micro)

According to a repair tip at the Google sci.electronics repair
newsgroup:

http://groups.google.com/groups?group=sci.electronics.repair

by doing a search I came up with only the crt as creating a spike and
taking out the jungle IC.Anyone have any common repair tips for such a
sympton.Thanks in advance.

According to a repair tip at the Google sci.electronics repair

I think the LA78814K may be a super jungle IC (micro & jungle in one)?
Fairly common for all kinds of failures.

Items to ponder if your is one of those "super jungle" IC style:

Today suggested to coworker to do heat & cold to find sick IC, fault
is spinning picture when warmed up, and it was the super jungle in a
32V550T (RCA, ITC008 chassis). In another, super jungle IC caused no
chroma in JVC.

By the way, Prima is grabage compared even to Citizen even is still
low end!? Reminds me of pcchips thing.

I don't agree, from a tech/repair standpoint. The manuals are decent,
reminiscent of the MTC 2800 manuals. They use no SMT stuff, or didn't
when I worked on them. They had one or two things overlooked in the
basic design when they first appeared, then seemed to be stable, for
the amount of time I was working on them. Sort of like the Thomson
tuner thing; really not much else wrong with the sets on a frequent
basis.
