20" JVC TV model:C-20710,chassis:C43,year:Sept 1996,Canadian
model,made in Mexico (soon our national flag will be made in
Mexico,Korea or China) no tuner signal only bright white screen with
barely visible on screen menu words,also during auto program it cannot
lock into a usable tv station reverts to ch2 as it though no cable
input is connected to tuner.Another problem is picture is missing
about 2" at the bottom and 2" at the top.
My guess is that the EEPROM is the culprit,what do you guys think?I
could not find any common repair tips for this unit,does anyone have
any tips?.Here is more info on what part this model/chassis uses:

Flyback # FSJ-21B001 (Samsung)
Yoke:DSE-2192FA (Samsung)
Q522=2SD1878
IC421=LA7830
R542=1.8 ohm,2 watt
C424=100 Uf,35V (which I replaced)

Thanks.

Update:Monday Sept 22,2003

I replaced C1541=KIA7809PI=NTE1966 thanks to Terry H who provided the
tip,it took 3 weeks to get the part as I am having difficulty sourcing
parts and now the tv does not stays only on channel 2,when doing
autoprogramming the tv goes through all 125 channels but does not
store any and the tv goes back to channel 2 but when using the remote
control I can manually key in on the remote any channel and the audio
from the station is perfect but there is no screen not even snow only
pure black screen.
When using the A/V RCA input jacks same thing no picture but perfect
audio,I checked the EEPROM for 5 volts and for data transmission
during initial plug in into ac outlet and both were present,I also
when into service mode but everything seemed normal as there service
mode is very basic unlike RCA/GE.
I could not find any common repair tips on the web for JVC's with this
problem and I am not a member of any of those pay service repair tips
websites or softwares so doe anyone have any common repair tips for
this model/chassis?.

Thanks.

Look for missing hsync, vsync, or 60hz ac clock signal to the
micro/system control. If any of these three are missing you will have
no video.
