Trucks usually use 24V - wreckers? Windscreen wiper
motors, heater fan motors?

Why 24V?

well most heavy duty ones seem to be 24V. I could live with 12V.

Yesterday I had the robotics class and I have to outline my project by next
week.
If I can find some motors quick then the thing is going to be mobile if not
then it
will be a vision/mapping project.

If mobile then there will be a load of about 3kg and maybe 5kg.

I will visit some car yards.

Oatley electronics usually have a good selection of DC motors & controllers
cheap.

They currently have some 12-24V motors there.

Yep...I would suggest dead photocopiers as a good source. I have a decent
24v motor & harmonic gearset in a neet little package hat came from a
copier. (Sorry I would offer it but its going to find its way into a little
trike for my daughter)
