2 part question - path/rect --> pin & CCAR power route

This is a 2 part question.....

Goal: connect a very large multi-layer power grid with via's down the
blocks where the X and Y paths intersect.
My first thought was to use the CCAR

1) is it possible to create/convert a path/shape to a pin with
connectivity? This would be helpful so I dont have
to tag every bus as a trunk

2) Has any tried using CCAR for this function?
