I have a NAD T 163 pre-amp & a NAD T 973 power amp & I am experiencing a
vexing problem........maybe some-one could help??
I connect all 7 speakers, plus sub, and the unit works great.
When I connect the trigger cable from the pre-amp there is a hum in the
speakers followed by no sound.
I took the amp back to where I purchased it and they lent me an identical
amp.
The people who are going to repair the amp said with a fair degree of
certainty that I had shorted out a speaker wire.
I explained that all was working OK until I connected the trigger cable,
they didn't seem to give my explanation any credibility.
When I connected the 'loan' amp I did not connect the trigger from the
pre-amp and ran the amp driving all speakers for around a day and a half.
I then connected the trigger and....yep you guessed it, got a brief hum from
the speakers then silence.
When I took this amp, and my pre-amp, to the repair guy he was once again
fairly adamant that I had shorted out a speaker.
I suppose what I'm asking is, has anyone had a similar experience.

** Take both items to a DIFFERENT tech ands ask him to show you the *
correct * way to wire it all up.

Then get him to link the "trigger" circuit in front of you.

See what happens ;-)
